Database Expertise:

• Oracle:

  • Deep understanding of Oracle DB internals (schemas, PL/SQL, packages, triggers, partitions, etc.).

  • Experience working with Oracle-specific features like materialized views, sequences, and advanced queuing.

• PostgreSQL:

  • In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL internals (schemas, roles, extensions, functions, vacuum/analyze processes, etc.).

  • Strong skills in writing and optimizing SQL and PL/pgSQL.

  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL advanced features like: Partitioning, Foreign Data Wrappers (FDW).

  • Logical Replication and Streaming Replication.

  • Custom extensions (e.g., pg_partman, timescaledb, etc.).

Migration Tooling & Processes:

• Experience using migration tools like: Oracle Foreign Data Wrapper (oracle_fdw), AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT), AWS DMS (Database Migration Service), Ora2Pg (open source).

• Understanding of data type mapping between Oracle and PostgreSQL.

• Ability to refactor stored procedures and PL/SQL into PL/pgSQL or application code.
